1. What's your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is learning new things. This area of business is so complex and ever-evolving. There is something exciting and new almost every day. I also love teaching students who are eager and ready to learn more about what I do as an athletics communications and marketing professional.
2. What's one book, podcast, or resource that's helped shape your career?
Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes helped shape my mindset tremendously. As a more reserved individual, that book taught me that it’s okay to take a chance. If you don’t take those chances, you never know what you’re missing. Many times, you must do it scared, and most times it isn’t as bad as it seems.
3. What’s your favorite team tradition you’ve experienced?
My favorite team/stadium tradition right now is the end of the third quarter at a Jackson State football game. The Sonic Boom of the South owns the end of the third quarter no matter if we are at The Vet or on the road.
4. What’s one piece of advice that you could give to any upcoming young professional?
Keep God first in all that you do and seek good mentorship.
5. On a lighter note, if you weren't working in athletics communications, what career would you have?
If I weren’t working in athletics communications, I’d be a summer camp counselor. I like playing with kids then sending them home to their parents. Kids bring out the inner child in me.
