This expert-led session provides a detailed review of field hockey stat keeping for athletic communications professionals at all levels of experience. The webinar will focus on practical in‑game application, clear definitions and consistent reporting techniques.

This webinar will feature discussion and insights on:

  • Pregame preparation, including roster collection, confirming uniform numbers and coordinating expectations with your opponent’s SID

  • In‑game workflow and stat crew communication, with guidance on using a caller/inputter model to improve pace, accuracy and clarity throughout the match

  • Shootout entry procedures, including how to record each attempt, how to enter a stroke taken by a different player after a foul during the shootout and how to correctly award team goals for shootout victories

  • Definitions and examples of key field hockey statistics, including shots, shots on goal, saves, defensive saves, assists, substitutions, card comments and clarification on statistics and new rules

  • Troubleshooting unusual or difficult plays, such as defensive team saves and moments when the play is unclear

  • Postgame best practices, including editing game files, communicating with coaches and collaborating with fellow SIDs to ensure accurate and consistent reporting
