Cody Bush — Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner for Strategic Communications

"It's been an incredible ride for more than 25 years, from being a statistician in high school to finding out this profession existed when I was at Westminster, to 25 amazing years at Austin Peay, and now in a new stage with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. I have met and become friends with many athletes, coaches, staff members, and other professionals in the business, and I cherish those relationships. Most of all, I want to thank all my mentors for providing guidance and the occasional kick in the pants along the way." — Cody Bush, 2026 CSC 25-Year Award recipient

Cody Bush joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as associate commissioner for strategic communication in August 2024. Prior to joining the RMAC, Bush was the assistant director of athletics for strategic communications and branding at Austin Peay State University and was a member of the Governors athletics department's communications staff for 25 seasons. In addition to overseeing the department’s athletics communications office, Bush coordinated the department’s broadcasting efforts on radio and streaming video through ESPN+.

Kyle Schwartz, Ohio Valley Conference Associate Commissioner for Strategic Communications, 2026 CSC 25-Year Award recipient: “Celebrating colleagues who entered this profession around the same time I did is always meaningful, but it’s especially rewarding when it’s someone like Cody. Over the years, he has become far more than a coworker — he has become a trusted friend. Cody is one of the hardest-working and most versatile professionals in our field. Whether at Austin Peay, in his current role with the RMAC, or in his long-standing work with the Pioneer Football League, he consistently delivers exceptional results while balancing an impressive range of responsibilities. In addition, his 20 years of service as the official scorer at the OVC Baseball Championship was a remarkable milestone in itself, and one that may not be matched again. Congratulations, Cody, on 25 outstanding years. I look forward to seeing all you continue to accomplish.”

Colby Wilson, Austin Peay State University Director of Communication: “Cody Bush took me under his wing, as a 19-year-old student worker, and never once made me feel like anything except a colleague. He encouraged me to think for myself, to consider what I might be able to contribute to the profession, and his guidance allowed me to enjoy a decade-long career working in college athletics, a dream I could never have even considered without him. I will be forever grateful for Cody's advice and witticisms I still use to this day (I'm partial to "Yeah, and people in hell want ice water" when confronted with a particularly unreasonable request) and most of all his friendship. In a time when so many people can't find their lane in the world, Cody has proven that you can stay true to yourself, your values and your beliefs AND be the consummate professional as well. Congratulations on 25 years, buddy; we're all proud of you!”
