Tim McKinney — Triton College Sports Information Specialist/ Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

"It is my great honor to be acknowledged by CSC for my 25-plus years working in the college sports communicators industry. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of many significant moments in the Triton College athletic history. The athletes and what they do have allowed me to shine. You do not last this long without enjoying what you do, and I am quite grateful for that. Words cannot express how much this award means to me and I want to say thank you to everyone that has been along for the ride for all these years."

Tim McKinney has been a part of Triton College athletics for 30 years dating back to his time as a Triton student. Since 1999 he has been on the college payroll in various roles leading up to his current position as sports information specialist. He still continues to assist the Triton women’s basketball team and has played a key role in the program’s turnaround. McKinney has been known as the “Voice of the Trojans” as he ran the college radio station sports department for many years. Today, he still calls many athletics events streaming online.

McKinney has been decorated with numerous honors over the years including induction into the NJCAA Region 4 and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) halls of fame. His broadcasting work has been nominated for various awards in the Chicago market. Most recently, in 2024 Tim was inducted into the Triton College Alumni Association Wall of Fame.
