Sarah Barbee, most recently an intern in the Office of Athletic Media Relations at Coastal Carolina University, has been named Assistant Sports Information Director at Birmingham-Southern College, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Services Jason Falls announced today.

Barbee replaces Bailey Mixon, who recently joined the SID staff at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

"We are excited to bring Sarah on board as assistant sports information director," Falls said. "She is a talented young woman with a solid background of experience in athletic media relations who will serve our student-athletes and coaches well. Additionally, she brings a familiarity with the Big South Conference and Birmingham-Southern after serving a year at Coastal Carolina University. That and her work ethic will mean good things for BSC coaches, student-athletes and the media that cover our athletic programs."

Barbee served as the primary athletic media relations contact for men's and women's soccer, cross country and track and field. She also served as the secondary contact for softball, but assisted with all 17 Chanticleer sports.

Prior to her term at CCU, Barbee served as an intern at Embry-Riddle University in Florida where she handled athletic media relations services for women's soccer, cross country and tennis for the Eagles. During her term with Embry-Riddle, Barbee served as the media relations liaison for the NAIA National Golf Championships in 2003.

The 24-year-old native of Richlands, N.C., is a 2002 graduate of Duke University.
