A dynamic leader with more than a decade of experience advancing community-centered programming, professional development, and strategic operations across the sports and nonprofit sectors, Griesmer emerged as the top candidate following a nationwide search that attracted 212 diverse applicants. She most recently served as programming and event manager for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC).
“We are thrilled to welcome Becky Griesmer as our new Director of Operations and Professional Development at CSC,” CSC Executive Director Jason Yaman said. “She brings a wealth of experience, strategic insight and a deep passion for supporting the growth of our members. Becky’s leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our professional development offerings and enhance operational excellence across the organization.”
In her new role, Griesmer will lead the strategy, design and delivery of all year-round and CSC Unite Convention educational programming. She will take an active role in cultivating partnerships, supporting membership engagement programs and driving impactful experiences that serve CSC’s growing and diverse membership.
Griesmer previously spent nine and a half years with the GCSC, most recently as programming and event manager. During her time at GCSC, she oversaw the planning, execution, and enhancement of community initiatives connected to major events including the 2019 MLB All-Star Game, 2021 NFL Draft, NBA All-Star 2022, and the 2024 NCAA Women’s Final Four. She also led the hiring, onboarding, training, and development of volunteers, interns, and associate board members who supported the team’s operational success.
A cum laude graduate of Xavier University, Griesmer earned a bachelor of science in sport management with minors in business, communication arts, and gender & diversity studies.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio, she also works as an event contractor and actively contributes to her local community through board service with Cleveland Sports Professionals and the local chapter of Women in Sports and Events (WISE). She previously spent five years as head coach and director of social media and communications for multiple USA Volleyball-affiliated junior clubs.
CSC announces committee structure updates and new leadership appointments
Effective with the beginning of the 2025-26 membership year, the CSC Executive Board of Directors has approved the following committee updates:
- The Membership Recognition Committee, with primary responsibility of helping to coordinate Membership Appreciation Week, has been merged with the Advocacy Committee. Membership Appreciation Week is the biggest CSC advocacy event of the year and the merging of these committees is intended to create increased synergy with these two groups. Mike Williams (Illinois State) will remain chair of the Advocacy Committee along with Vice Chair Sean Cartell (UTSA). Former Membership Recognition Committee Chair Tommy Chasanoff (Cumberlands) will transition to operating within the structure of the Advocacy Committee and continue to lead the subgroup charged with Membership Appreciation Week planning.
- Ali Paquette (Middlebury) has been named the chair of the Professional Development Committee. The committee was formerly co-chaired by the second and third CSC vice presidents along with CSC staff member Barb Kowal, who retired effective Aug. 1. Paquette will now serve as chair, with additional vice chairs to be selected later. New CSC staff member Becky Griesmer will lead professional development alongside Paquette, with continued board liaison support from the second and third vice presidents.
- Keonte’ Herrera (LSU) will serve as chair of the Career Services Committee, filling a vacancy. Matt Eaker (Washington & Lee) has been selected as vice chair.
- Ryan Workman (Iowa State) has been selected to serve as vice chair of the Academic All-America Hall of Fame Committee, filling a vacancy.
