Hung P. Tsai has been named Assistant Commissioner and Director of Media Relations for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), an NCAA Division II athletic conference that recently completed its 65th year of operation.

Tsai succeeds Joe Lang, who is completing his eighth and final year of service in June.

Tsai will oversee all facets of CCAA communications, including media interaction, print and online publications, athletics schedules, record keeping and office infrastructure. Additionally, Tsai will administer the weekly and seasonal awards programs for all 13 CCAA sports.

"I am honored that the CCAA has chosen me as its next Assistant Commissioner," Tsai said. "I look forward to working with Commissioner Hiegert's staff, as well as the members of the conference. My family is also excited about relocating to the Bay Area."

Tsai is no stranger to CCAA athletics, having served as Sports Information Director from member institution Cal State Stanislaus from 2001-04. Prior to that, he was a media relations assistant for two years at his alma mater, incoming CCAA member Humboldt State University. Tsai has also worked for ESPN, the ESPN Summer and Winter X Games and San Jose State University Athletics.

He is completing his master's degree in Sports Management from California State University, Long Beach.

"Finding a replacement for Joe was a difficult task due to the great contributions and service he has given to the CCAA for the past eight years," Hiegert said. "Mr Tsai's experience with the CCAA and his variety of media relations skills should allow the CCAA to continue to move forward even though the CCAA has lost a very valued employee."

Lang intends to continue his CoSIDA membership as an associate member while pursuing a different career path for the time being.

"The professionals who comprise this endeavor are very special and close to my heart, every one of them" Lang said.

"I have made lifelong friends and grown a great deal as a result of this profession, and for that I am extremely grateful. I thank each member of CoSIDA, particularly those I have worked with and all who have performed committee service at some point in their careers."
