CONVENTION IN REVIEW:
The 2010 CoSIDA Convention in San Francisco (July 4-7) was filled with innovative workshop programming and multiple opportunities to network with colleagues and corporate partners in one of the finest cities in the world!

Convention Hotel Registration & Rates
June 14: The CoSIDA hotel room rates of $129.00 per night are no longer available. That $129.00 room rate per night has ended, based on total Hotel Occupancy. That $129.00 per night rate was guaranteed through the CoSIDA pre-registration period (March 1-June 11, 2010). Based on availability, the Marriott Marquis currently has standard rooms at the rate of $169.00+tax between the dates of July 1-8.

Convention Workshop Registration
Online Preregistration CLOSED on June 11, 2010.
Individuals who wish to register after Friday, June 11 will pay at the workshop only with these on-site registration rates: $325 for non-CoSIDA members, $225 for CoSIDA members and $225 each for spouses, friends and children. This registration fee is only payable on-site at the Marriott Marquis (see registration times listed below in the schedule).

Author of books and articles in these areas, Dr. Ranly is internationally sought as a writing, editing and publication expert and a popular presenter at previous CoSIDA Conventions.

3-3:50 pm NCAA Strategic Planning Panel - Erik Christianson (NCAA Director of Public and Media Relations It's the hot PR buzz term of the moment: strategic communications. But what does it really mean? And how do you really do it? In this presentation, the NCAA's Erik Christianson will describe how the NCAA retooled its Public and Media Relations group from a reactive, just-answer-the-phones office to a unit focused on strategic communications and issues management. And he will unveil the NCAA's strategic communications roadmap, how it was developed, and how that model of communications planning and strategy can be utilized at campuses and conferences regardless of size or resources.
Following the presentation, CoSIDA members will move into breakout sessions by NCAA division for further discussion of strategic communications. In particular, NCAA Vice Presidents Mike Racy of Division II and Dan Dutcher of Division III will help lead the conversations in those breakout sessions focused on their respective divisional strategic positioning initiatives.

- Tickets are $26 and must be paid for on site in San Francisco during the annual convention.
- Each CoSIDA member registered for the conference is limited to purchase a maximum of four tickets.
- Specific information will be sent out closer to the convention about where to pay for and pick up tickets.
- TRANSPORTATION TO THE GAME: There is public transportation available from San Francisco to Oakland via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit Authority). It is about a 25-minute trip from the hotel to the game. You must take the Fremont-bound train, get off at the Coliseum station and use the walkway to the stadium. Round trip fare from the Montgomery or Powell Street stations to the Coliseum is $7.60.

Public Transportation In and Around San Francisco, Oakland Airports
- One-way subway/train fare via the Bay Area Rapid Transit Authority (BART) from San Francisco International Airport to the Powell Street station (closest to Marriott Marquis) is $8.10.
- One also can use BART from the Oakland International Airport/Coliseum station to Powell Street for $3.80 each way. There is a bus bridge that gets you from Oakland International to the Coliseum station.

Meeting Space/Committee Rooms
All CoSIDA Committee chairs, conference PR directors and Presidents of CoSIDA affiliated groups wishing to request meeting space during the Convention were asked to contact CoSIDA 1st VP Larry Dougherty and Barb Kowal, CoSIDA Director of External Affairs, to request appropriate space. That deadline has passed, but if you still require a meeting space, please contact them immediately with the date (July 4 or 5) and the maximum number of people expected to attend. Dougherty and Kowal will work with CoSIDA's master meeting room space schedule and try to accommodate your request.
