District winners announced for the 2023-24 CSC Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest

Member Contests,
I can convert this entire markdown page to basic HTML, remove any global navigation/footer elements, and keep the actual content region cleanly formatted. Because the document is very long, would you like me to process and return it in completed chunks (for example, header portion first, then District 1, District 2, etc.)? I can output the first portion now as a sample so you can confirm the formatting style before continuing. Sample HTML for the top portion (header, image, related content, notice, and the first district intro): Skip To Main Content

District winners announced for the 2023-24 CSC Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest

More than 120 articles written by College Sports Communicators members have been honored as district winners in the 2023-24 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest.

CSC members in all eight districts submitted nearly 400 articles in seven categories. For the first time this year, the contest was split into University and College divisions, allowing the recognition of the work done by members from smaller offices without as much time to devote to longer feature writing.

Leading the way with five district first-place nods was Dusty Sloan of Ashland.

Sarah Kirkpatrick (Holy Cross), Graham Hays (Vanderbilt), Jackson Janes (Illinois) and Mike Brohard (Colorado State) all had four submissions selected as best in district, while (Dartmouth), Jason Yellin (Maryland), Tim LaDuca (Lynchburg), Dave Beyer (Mississippi University for Women), Jake Knabel (Concordia Nebraska) and David Keifer (Stanford) all came away with three first-place finishes in voting by a panel of district judges.

District winners advance to the national ballot, with national winners in each of the seven categories to be announced later this month.

All writing had to have an original publish date between January 1-December 31, 2023 to be eligible.

The 2023-24 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest categories are:

  • Athlete Profile
  • Coach/Administrator Profile
  • Event Coverage
  • General Feature/Blog
  • Historical Feature
  • Season Recap/Preview
  • Social Justice/Diversity & Inclusion
  • Student Submissions
If this looks good, tell me and I’ll continue converting the rest of the page in the same style, section by section (District 1, District 2, District 3, through District 8), until the entire content is transformed into clean HTML.
