Folkestad Named Assistant at Bemidji State

Brad Folkestad has been named assistant sports information director, Andy Bartlett, sports information director at Bemidji State Universityannounced.
Folkestad, a 2001 graduate of Bemidji State, comes to BSU after one year as assistant SID at the University of Minnesota Duluth. At Minn.-Duluth, Folkestad was primarily responsible for Bulldog sports competing at the NCAA Division II level, with specific responsibilities overseeing soccer, track and field, men¹s and women¹s basketball, baseball and cross country.
He spent a year and a half in the BSU SID office as a graduate assistant from January 2002 to August of 2003. During his stint as graduate assistant, Folkestad oversaw Bemidji State¹s Division II soccer and softball teams and was the primary contact for its Division I women¹s ice hockey program. He also assisted with a variety of other sports.
Folkestad was a volunteer on the media services staff at the 2003 NCAA Division I Men¹s Basketball Midwest Regional Finals hosted by the University of Minnesota and has volunteered at the Western Collegiate Hockey Association¹s Final Five for the women¹s league.
"Brad is a promising sports information professional with a lot of potential in this field," Bartlett said. "He has a long relationship with the Bemidji community through his time here as an undergraduate and his work in this office as a grad assistant, and I¹m certainly glad to have him back. He¹ll be an excellent addition to this staff."
