This session is designed to reinforce foundational knowledge and strengthen understanding of how NCAA basketball rules apply to statkeeping for both men’s and women’s games.
While there are a few StatCrew references, this repurposed content delivers practical tips that are relevant season after season.
This video features a discussion and insights on:
- Pregame preparation including stat crew roles, roster setup, uniform number issues, and collaboration with your opponent’s SID
- In-game scoring techniques such as entering starters, resolving unclear plays, and recording accurate statistics
- Definitions and applications of key stat terms including rebounds (team, deadball), assists, and missed shots
- Strategies for troubleshooting unusual plays and maintaining stat accuracy throughout the game
- Best practices for editing game files and communicating with fellow athletic communications professionals postgame
