College Sports Information Directors of America

Each year, College Sports Communicators honors hundreds of communications and creative professionals for excellence in writing, design, creativity and innovation through our popular CSC member contests. Full details and nominations/submissions are now available for 2023-24 in these three programs:

• Creative & Digital Design Contest
• ChangeMaker Innovation Award

New this year, plans are being made to recognize selected winners from each of these contests in person during the #CSCUnite24 convention, June 9-12 in Las Vegas.

Contests are ONLY open to current 2023-24 dues-paying College Sports Communicators members. Members MAY NOT submit entries on behalf of non-CSC members. For the ChangeMaker award, non-member colleagues who contributed to the campaign can, and are encouraged, to be included in the nomination as long as at least one current CSC member is included.

No late nominations are accepted for any CSC programs. For complete details and rules, visit each contest homepage and review closely. Below is an overview of each contest.

Creative & Digital Design Contest

Each year, CSC recognizes outstanding work by the membership in the area of creative and digital design. Contests for 2023-24 have been revamped with new awards being offered.

This year, there are 14 categories available for CSC members to submit their work with each category split into University and College division entries for a total of 28 contests. New this year are awards for short form videos/reels, signing day packages (any sport) and video of the year. All sport/season contests have been consolidated into single contests to include all sports.

The 2023-24 contest results will be announced in a new format this year. “Portfolio” contest finalists will be announced on April 22 with winners announced on site during the 2024 CSC Unite Convention in Las Vegas June 9-12. All general contest winners and top places will be announced on June 3.

Also new this year, in addition to recognizing the top overall places for each contest category as listed below, top finishers from each of the College Division categories will be recognized as well, based on the number of entries per level of the division (i.e., the best works from Division II, Division III, the NAIA, Canadian institutions, two-year colleges and other institutions will also be recognized even if they do not place in the overall contest results).

ChangeMaker Innovation Award

There are no changes to the ChangeMaker Innovation Award from last year.

The purpose of the award is to recognize forward-thinkers who bring new ideas to life — and strengthen the position of CSC members and our work — with special content, a branding and messaging campaign, new storyteller packages, social media initiatives, a digital series, new event coverage/game management strategies, etc.

The type of content or new initiative to nominate is broad-ranging and will recognize excellence in content which represents out-of-the-box or cutting edge thinking and implementation especially as we navigate a complex and changing college athletic environment.

The contest will be open to any individual or team of college athletics communications professionals and must include at least one current College Sports Communicators member who was integral to the project. All entries must have been created between July 2023 - May 2024. You may submit more than one project.
