College Sports Information Directors of America

Chuck Sadowski has been selected as the University of New Haven 's new director of athletic media relations, Director of Athletics Deborah Chin announced.

He replaces Jason Sullivan, who served as UNH's sports information director from July 2002 through November 2003 before taking a position at Bryant College.

Chin said, "We are happy that a dedicated Athletic Media Relations professional like Chuck Sadowski has joined our department at the University of New Haven.  He has 18 years in the profession plus many media contacts all over the nation.  I look forward to the positive contributions he will make to our student-athletes and the entire campus community."

Prior to going to the University of New Haven, Sadowski served as the assistant athletic director for sports information and events at Austin College in Sherman, Texas since August of 1996.  He also served as the director of sports information and scheduling coordinator at the University of Redlands from December 1992 through August1996 and as the director of sports information at the University of Chicago from February 1987 to December 1992.

Chuck began his career in athletic media relations as the Graduate Assistant SID at New York University in 1985.

An active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Sadowski is in the first year of a three-year term as an At-Large College Division member of the organization's Board of Directors. There are five College Division Representatives on the CoSIDA Board from all NCAA Division II, III, NAIA institutions and junior colleges in the United States and Canada.

He also is currently a vice chair of the organization's Committee on Committees along with his new position on the Board of Directors.  He has also worked on CoSIDA's Writing Contest and Charity committees.

During his career, he has served as host SID for the 1987 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Nationals and the 1994 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis National Championship.

Chuck has worked in press services at many large events including serving as the Mixed Zone Manager for baseball at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, working at the track cycling and boxing venues at the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York City, working at the 2000 USA Olympic Track Cycling Trials in Frisco, Texas. He has also helped staff the 1997 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship plus several NCAA men's and women's basketball regionals.

Sadowski assisted the Chicago White Sox in press services at the 2003 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and worked as a statistician and official scorer for the Texas Rangers Class AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders in 2003.  He also was the official scorer for the Class A San Bernardino Spirit in 1993.

A 1984 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree with honors in French with a concentration in European studies, Chuck also received a master's degree in French studies in 1987 from New York University.

Sadowski and his wife, the former Lisa Pike, have two children, Laura and Sam.
