Tracy King Named Conference Commissioner
College Sports Information Directors of America
Tracy King, who had served as assistant athletic director and sports information director at Stevens Institute of Technology for the past three years, has been selected as the first full-time commissioner of the Skyline Conference.
King, who begins his tenure as Skyline Conference commissioner on July 1, will oversee all conference operations including compliance, championships, publicity and student-athlete welfare programs.
The Skyline Conference is an NCAA Division III conference comprised of 11 institutions in the New York Metropolitan area. The Skyline members include Centenary College, Farmingdale State University, Manhattanville College, Maritime College, Mount Saint Mary College, College of Mount Saint Vincent, College at Old Westbury, St. Joseph’s College (L.I.), Stevens Institute of Technology, United States Merchant Marine Academy and Yeshiva University.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as the first full-time commissioner of the Skyline Conference,” said King. “The conference has made considerable strides over the past few years and the athletic directors felt that a full-time commissioner was the next step in helping the conference achieve a higher level of success.”
In addition to his role at Stevens, King also served as the Skyline Conference publicity director during the past year. He oversaw the publicity of 15 conference sports and also launched the Skyline Conference website - www.skylineconference.org.
“With the help of the sports information directors in the conference, we made some tremendous strides in the area of publicity for the league last year,” King added. “I’m looking forward to working with an outstanding group of athletic directors in improving the overall experience of our student-athletes.
King, 34, has spent 13 years in collegiate athletics, serving at both the Division I and III levels. Prior to assuming the role of assistant athletic director at Stevens, he served as assistant sports information director at Division I Seton Hall. He has also held positions in sports information offices at the College of the Holy Cross and New Jersey City University.
A native of Brooklyn, Conn., King is a 1992 graduate of the University of Connecticut. He currently resides in Monroe Township, N.J.
