Video Message to CoSIDA Members: Nominate For Haier Achievement Awards Now!
College Sports Information Directors of America
This is the second year for the Haier Achievement Award, introduced in 2014 by Haier America and CoSIDA to recognize student-athletes from colleges and universities of all sizes for achievements beyond sports. In 2015-16, the scholarship and awards program will once again honor eight (8) student-athletes throughout the year for their off-field accomplishments such as community service, academic excellence, overcoming adversity, or any of a myriad of qualities.
Isaiah Austin (right), the former Baylor University basketball player will had his dreams of an NBA career dashed by the diagnosis of Marfan Syndrome in 2015 once again serves as the national spokesperson for the awards program.
Student-athletes can be nominated by CoSIDA members, college sports fans or by friends and family members through the link on www.haierachievement.com from September through December 31.
Thanks to all the CoSIDA members who have nominated this fall! Your student-athletes do not have to be in-season to be nominated, but must have eligibility remaining and be in good standing.
Download & share with colleagues!Haier Achievement Awards Overview: 2015-16 PDF Go to www.haierachievement.com/haa-honorees and see last year's award recipients In the YouTube video below, Austin addresses the CoSIDA members and talks about the Haier Achievement Award and asks for your participation: --- More on the program and nomination/voting process: • A panel of sportswriters, college SIDs and former college student-athletes will select eight (8) deserving student-athletes throughout the year (***two per month***) for recognition. **Haier will recognize each at an on-campus ceremony, share their story, donate $2,000 to their school’s general scholarship fund and provide a Haier 48-inch LED HD television to the school’s athletic department**. • In March 2016, fans can vote online for the *Haier Ultimate Achievement Award* winner from the eight honorees **with the winner earning their school a $5,000 donation to the general scholarship fund and another Haier 48-inch LED HD television for the athletic department**. • Additionally, all fans who vote will be entered into a drawing to win a Haier 48-inch LED HD television. We commend Haier (@HaierAmerica) for helping us share the stories of all that is good with college sports. Please help us help Haier uncover the tremendous stories that make college sports great!
