WHITESIDE TO SPEAK AT FAME MEETING
College Sports Information Directors of America
Erin Whiteside, a candidate for a doctorate at Penn State, will be one of the featured speakers at FAME's meeting in San Antonio. The Female Athletic Media Relations Executives meeting will be held Monday, June 22 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Salon D at the convention headquarters in the Marriott.
Whiteside has been working with Penn State's Dr. Marie Hardin who conducted interviews with women in sports information at the CoSIDA Convention in San Diego. You can read the results from these interviews at this address:

Whiteside is taking her research a step deeper into what women experience in sports information. "I am hoping to conduct one-on-one interviews with women in the profession," she said. "The interviews should take about an hour and are confidential. As a token of appreciation for your time and thoughts, I will be offering FAME $20 for each interview I conduct."
Whiteside is the former women's basketball SID at Penn State and won CoSIDA's postgraduate scholarship in 2005. "I am currently working on my dissertation, which explores the experiences of women in sports information, and I am very interested in hearing the individual stories of female SIDs," she said.
"I am looking for a wide range of SIDs experience-wise, and if you are interested in participating in this research project, you can email me at eew10@psu.edu to set up a time for an interview. I will be at CoSIDA in San Antonio to conduct those interviews, but if you are not going to be there, we can also set up something for over the phone."
