College Sports Information Directors of America

I. First Vice President Joe Hernandez (Ball State)
said his committee, assigned to review proposals to
put the Academic All-America process on-line, had
conducted  conference calls with both SportsSystems
and ICS. Director of Marketing Ed Carpenter (Boston
University) asked if the committee felt confident
that both companies could do the job and Hernandez
said yes. A lengthy discussion followed. Third Vice
President Charles Bloom asked Hernandez for a copy
of notes from the call to review the points of
discussion.

II. Director of On-line Services Maxey Parrish
(Baylor) said the Academic All-America forms and
committee listings were already on the CoSIDA.com
website for the fall contests and Secretary Jeff
Hodges (North Alabama) said they were also being
published in the October Digest.

III. Hernandez reviewed the preliminary planning for
the Philadelphia workshop. He said he needed a
scheduling format to know which days to plan program
events, since July 4th falls on a Monday. He said he
had received a variety of suggestions from the
program committee and the local committee. Hernandez
said he would work with Bloom and Second Vice
President Doug Dull to come up with a sample
schedule to bring to the Board on the next call.

IV. President Rod Commons (Washington State) said he
had received the surveys from the Calgary Workshop
and was compiling information from them.

V. Carpenter said that the $10,000 check from the
Alberta Lottery Fund had reached CoSIDA Treasurer
Dave Wohlhueter (Ithaca, N.Y.). He said all major
sponsors have now paid but he was still awaiting a
check from CIS.

VI. Carpenter discussed the ESPN contract for
sponsoring the Academic All-America program. He said
he would try and get it finalized by October 1.

VII. There was discussion about Millsport's payment
of $15,000 for finishing the 2003-04 year with the
Academic All-America teams, since the company had
not fulfilled the terms of the agreement by updating
the AAA data base. After discussion, the Board felt
the issue should be discussed with Wohlhueter (who
was not on the call).

VIII. Hodges said the October Digests were in the
mail and the Directory was being finished up at
Multi-Ad and should be done around October 1. He
asked for any items for the November Digest to be
submitted to him by October 1. 

IX. Commons said he had talked to Coordinator of
Exhibits Paul Allan (Minnesota State-Mankato) about
rates, contracts, etc., for the Philadelphia Workshop. 
The call was adjourned.
