Faiella Named NMU SID
College Sports Information Directors of America
MARQUETTE, Mich. - David Faiella has been named sports information director at Northern Michigan University, athletic director Ken Godfrey announced.
Faiella has been serving as the interim sports information director since Jim Pinar left in December. He originally joined the NMU staff as an assistant sports information Director in August of 2001.
Faiella spent 12 years (1989-01) at The University of Findlay as the sports information director. The Toledo, Ohio, native is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication with a major in radio-TV-film. He has completed all of his course work for a master’s degree in sport communication from the University of Iowa and has taken additional graduate work from the United States Sports Academy.
Faiella has served as a press officer at the Olympics in Atlanta (1996) and at the Goodwill Games in New York City in 1998. He assisted with media operations at the U.S. Senior Open, which was recently held at the Inverness Club in Toledo. Faiella has served on media relations staffs at two Olympic Festivals and at the NationsBank Pan Pacific Championships in Atlanta.
He is also a member of the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) where Faiella is a Level V Coach. Faiella served a five-year term (1992-97) on the United States Swimming, Public Relations Committee.
Over 40 of his publications have won awards. He currently is serving on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Publicists For Olympic Sports Committee.
